Hancock Law Firm, PLLC is two people. Joel Hancock is the attorney. Keri Flippin runs the office. That’s the whole firm. No associates, no case managers, no handing your file to somebody you’ve never met.
Joel defends people charged with traffic offenses, DWI, misdemeanors, and felonies in Carteret County District and Superior Court. That’s all he does, and Carteret County is where he does it.

Who you’ll work with
Joel Hancock
Attorney
Joel was born and raised on Harkers Island. He’s defended criminal and traffic cases in the Carteret County courts since 2013, and he opened this firm in Beaufort in May 2018. He’s fluent in Portuguese, from two years doing missionary work in Brazil.
Keri Flippin
Office Manager and Paralegal
Keri is usually the first person you’ll speak to when you call. A Morehead City native, she has spent over a decade working in law offices. She is not an attorney and she does not give legal advice.
When you call
You call, and you get Keri. She finds out what happened and what you’re charged with, and she gets it to Joel. He gets back to you, and you’ll talk about what you’re actually facing, what the realistic outcomes are, and what it costs. The first conversation is free.
Joel charges flat fees. You’ll know the number before you hire him, not after. In most cases he can set up a payment plan. Sometimes the fee on a minor ticket costs more than the insurance increase it saves you. That math doesn’t work, and he’ll say so on the phone instead of taking the case.
